Welcome
Hello, and welcome to everyone who's reading my blog. I'm going to start off by telling some things about me that you don't already know. My name is Megan. I'm 19 years old (gonna be 20 on October 25) Yay. I just moved to Orlando to go to University of Central Florida like 3 weeks ago and so far I'm loving it. I just recently went to get an HIV test from Miracle Love on Colonial and I'm still waiting for the results. I'm in the middle of reading The Naked Truth and so far I'm loving it. I really feel like so many people need to read this story because parts of her story is everyone's story. She comes from a community where people aren't knowledgeable about HIV and I am from a small community also. We know about HIV but we don't know details. After I am through with this course I want to go back to my hometown over the summer and use what I've learned to teach others to become more informed.

ReplyDeleteHey Megan,
ReplyDeleteFirst, Happy early birthday, lol...
It's cool that you like living here, I don't! I like crowded places, but I have to deal with it, lol... Hopefully I'll move out one day!
I am in the middle of reading "At Risk", and it's a very nice book as well; I am enjoying every detail.
So, what is your major? Sounds like you're going to be an HIV teacher :P
Hi Megan, how was the atmosphere when you went to take the HIV test? (just curious). I am planning on taking one as well. I think if everyone were tought the facts about HIV in grade school and got tested regularly then HIV could be more managable. Education is one of the keys to stopping this disease. Glad to hear you like UCF so far.
ReplyDeleteSo you are a scorpio, just as I am. What have you decided your interest is for HIV? I asked all students to tell me what that interest was. I posted something to the discussion blog topic, which you should read.
ReplyDeleteAs you want to go back and become an educator, what about how to educate on HIV. What has already been tried and what suggestions are out there for successful programs.
I look forward to your future blogs and to see where your interest lies.
